Business License Compliance Officer
Company: Cobb County Government Position: Business License Compliance Officer Location: Marietta, GA Salary: $17.70 - $28.32 an hour Posted: 04/23/18 Closing Date: 04/29/18 Job Description: Conducts inspections of businesses to ensure proper licensure and taxation: makes site visits; researches and identifies businesses or other entities requiring business licensing; advises business owners of violations and actions needed to correct deviations; issues citations for violations as needed; and maintains related documentation. Prepares renewal and delinquent notices for mailing: maintains records of all communications sent to business owners; records amount due; updates database to include renewals and fees received; and updates and maintains databases and associated documentation.
Receives moneys in payment of business licenses and related fees: collects and receives fees, fines, etc.; calculates appropriate fees; records transactions; issues receipts; checks information for accuracy; posts and amends payments in computer database; balances cash; prepares and updates daily administrative reports of fees collected and licenses issued; and submits reports to appropriate personnel.
Performs customer service functions: provides information and assistance regarding business licensing, procedures, documentation, fees, or other issues; distributes forms and documentation; researches and responds to routine questions or complaints; and initiates problem resolution.
Assists with the processing of business license applications: prepares applications for mailing and processing; reviews completed applications for accuracy; verifies proper certifications; accepts other documents associated with license processing; prepares and issues licenses for approved applications; files and indexes all documentation and payments; enters information into computer database; receives and records documentation; and reviews, verifies, records, mails, and files required information.
Ensures work activities are in compliance with applicable local, state, and federal rules, regulations, laws, codes, and ordinances: identifies problems and violations; and initiates problem resolution to correct deviations. Performs other related duties as assigned.
