Company: City of Marietta Position: Recreation Coordinator – Franklin Gateway Location: Marietta, GA Salary: $17.54 - $19.99 Posted: 05/07/18 Closing Date: 05/20/18 Job Description: This is an entry level position in the Parks, Recreation and Facilities department that is under the general direction of an assigned Recreation Supervisor. This position is responsible for scheduling practices, games, leagues, tournaments, and programs at a newly constructed synthetic turf sports complex. Knowledge of soccer, lacrosse, flag football, and other popular and trending sports is preferred. This position will coordinate with city staff and outside organizations, the usage of the fields and will be challenged with keeping a full schedule of activities, programs, and will be responsible for upkeep and field maintenance at the facility.
Plans, organizes, schedules, implements, and supervises special events and programs. Coordinates with other city staff, outside organizations, and league coordinators, the necessary details to create and implement successful events and programs. Provides the public with the appropriate information on upcoming activities. Assists in the hiring and supervision of part-time staff as needed. Provides citizens with appropriate information on programs offered and answers their questions via phone or in person. Writes correspondence to staff, participants, and community leaders. Records and keeps track of the necessary paperwork for events and activities. Procures the necessary equipment and supplies needed to successfully operate the programs following established purchasing procedures. Assists in preparation of annual budget in selected program areas and evaluates programs success and impact on the city. Conducts staff orientation and staff meetings as needed.
