Job Description: This part-time position is located at the Historic Hyde Farm and works up to 29 hours per week. The schedule for this position will include working three days during the week from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm; the remaining hours will be either 8:00 am to 1:30 pm or 11:00 am to 4:30 pm, depending on the needs of the farm. Nights and weekends will be scheduled when needed with suitable notice to facilitate harvesting.
Depending on area of assignment, performs a variety of landscaping duties: mows grass; plants flowers and shrubs; weed eats around signs and fence lines; edges curb lines; clears leaves, tree limbs and other debris from park areas; spreads and hauls ground cover, dirt, or mulch; applies herbicides and pesticides; prunes trees and shrubs; weeds flower beds; aerates and spreads grass seed; services irrigation systems; grooms and lines ball fields; and removes snow and ice, etc. Depending on area of assignment, performs maintenance and general custodial duties; washes windows; empties trash; and sets ups and tears down staging, chairs, tables, bleachers, etc. for meetings, classes, tournaments, and events.
Maintains inventory of equipment, parts and supplies: gathers supplies and equipment to complete work assignments; transports supplies to and from work site; initiates orders for materials and equipment needed; and maintains related documentation. Operates or uses a County vehicle, and various equipment, power tools, hand tools, and supplies in order to complete work assignments such as lawn mower, weed eater, blowers, tillers, bobcat, tractor, dump truck, wheel barrel, jack hammer, sledge hammer, saws, chippers, back hoes, and other power or motorized equipment, depending on area of assignment.
Performs general maintenance tasks necessary to keep machinery, equipment and tools in operable condition, which may include inspecting equipment, checking fluid levels, replacing fluids, greasing equipment, washing/cleaning equipment, and cleaning shop and work areas: monitors equipment operations to maintain efficiency and safety; and reports faulty equipment. Performs other related duties as assigned.
