Company: Bobby Dodd Institute Position: VP, Development and Community Relations Location: Atlanta, GA Posted: 08/01/18 End Date: 08/31/18 Job Description: This position is responsible for providing leadership in all fund development, marketing and communication activities and volunteer development. This position supervises staff responsible for fund development and interfaces with the Board Fund Development Committee. Included in this position’s responsibilities is the administration of all aspects of fund development including, day-to-day operations, maintaining accurate and timely records, planning, and working closely with the CEO. This position is staff liaison for the Governance Committee and assists the committee with volunteer leadership recruitment, conducting the annual Board Survey and the annual risk assessment.

This position provides leadership and direction for the Volunteer Program at BDI. This includes leadership volunteer engagement in fund development, governance, and employer development, as well as soliciting requests from staff for volunteer projects, recruiting & orienting volunteers, planning and executing special volunteer activities, and ensuring volunteers are recognized for their efforts. This position is responsible for leading and directing all of the fund development activities. This includes the annual campaign, major gifts, special events, planned giving, corporate and foundation sponsorships. The incumbent will work closely with the CEO and Board Fund Development Committee to successfully implement all fund development activities including capital campaigns.

This position provides monthly reports of fund raising results for each activity, ensures that accurate and current donor data is being maintained and that timely donor research is available. This position develops and administers a departmental operating budget for development and communication, delivers presentations to the public regarding BDI and Disability. Awareness and directs production of BDI marketing and communications materials, and directs production of BDI marketing and communications materials, including website, annual report, brochures, and other branded collateral material.

Education and skill requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school. This position requires at a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school and a minimum of ten years of successful fund development experience. The incumbent must have experience and knowledge of the responsibilities related to the full range of a fund development program, including major gifts, corporate and family foundation solicitation, donor research, planned giving and special events. The position requires that the incumbent be self-motivated, well organized and able to function both independently and in concert with other staff, board members and volunteers. It also requires that the incumbent have excellent interpersonal communication skills, both oral and written. The incumbent must also be fluent in donor management and grant management software systems.
