Company: The Center for Family Resources Position: GED Instructor Location: Marietta, GA Posted: 08/31/18 End Date: 09/30/18 Job Description: Part-Time; Evening Hours (Tuesday and Thursday 5pm-9pm); General Office and Classroom Environment Weekly Hours: 8 GED Instructor to work with low-income students enrolled in a GED preparatory program. Works cooperatively with the case managers, Cobb Literacy Council, Cobb Adult Education Center, and other community partners. Minimum qualifications include: experience in working with basic skills deficient individuals, excellent communication and interpersonal skills; good organizational skills and ability to work with people from various socio-economic backgrounds.

Purpose: Instructs and supervises students enrolled in G.E.D. preparatory classes. Develops and maintains student records and prepares statistical reports.

Major Duties:  Administers educational testing and provides instruction and on-going tutoring.  Ensures that program outcomes and accountability measures are being administered, monitored, and accurately reported.  Follows all federal, state, and local guidelines for program administration.  Assists in scheduling volunteers and provides supervision and direction to them in their duties.  Plans and directs individual education profiles for each student.  Develops and implements enrichment activities.  Maintains accurate statistics on students.  Prepares all required information for grants and reports in a timely manner.  Ensures that reports are accurate and complete.  Performs other duties as assigned.

Education: Bachelors in Education or related field Experience: Minimum one year’s teaching or tutoring experience Skills: Experience in working with basic skills deficient individuals; Good verbal and written communication skills; telephone etiquette; legible handwriting; able to work with people from varied socio-economic backgrounds; excellent interpersonal and organizational skills; good problem solving and conflict resolution skills; able to manage a variety of tasks in a fast-paced environment; flexible and willing to work on new projects.
